1. DOG FRIENDLY PLACES IN JAKARTA
a) Pet Kingdom Alam Sutera (also a shop, vet, hotel)
Our favourite spacious area to run around, play at some obstacles and get wet in one of the two swimming pools.
At the entrance, they have turtles in the green fenced field and sometimes a beautiful owl.
Also snakes and lizards or fish or hamsters in the terrariums to look at for the kids!

I really recommend going early in the morning, at 8-9am, right after the opening. There is no shadow and already around 10 it gets extremely hot.
You might choose to go late in the afternoon but there will be more dogs that time. Which might be fine if yours one if he is a friendly buddy :) The dogs are usually running without a leash but again, it depends on your dog’s behaviour.

New facility at Senayan, very much recommended by our friend as scenic outdoor place for dogs, kids and adults, as you can have a nice drink and food here.
The playground provides a fun environment for your four legged companions and it is welcoming both dogs and cats. In the open-air environment you can meet other pet owner and you can chat and treat your animals to a fun day out in the park.
Very easy to park here.

h) Sentul hike
You can definitely take your dog out of Jakarta for a family walk with ID guides in the Sentul area. Let your guides know that you are bringing a dog.
It takes only about an hour from Jakarta to get there so even those of your four legged friends who do not feel well in the car, can manage.
When walking, keep your dog on the leash at all times as there might be people working in the rice fields and walking around the villages.
Since there is a river on the trail, it is fantastic cool down for your dog if he is a water fan!

Note about a crate
Please note that if you need to buy an airline approved crate for transportation, you can easily do so in Ace Hardware or Pet Kingdom. The price is triple less than when ordering with the relocation services. We have personal experience bringing our Labrador to Europe and then back to Jakarta with Qatar airlines in a crate from Ace Hardware without any problems.
Still, always read and confirm your airlines requirements for any possible specifics.

You can ask for trainer at Groovy, Jackpetz, Pet Kingdom, Vodka and Latte.. Always check they train your dog in English, they invite YOU to the sessions so the dog is actually trained to listen to you, always ask what exactly will the dog learn. Contact few trainers, compare prices, arrange a trial lesson first.
